An exhibition of the Capital Culture District Project
The illustrated urban design plan proposed for the redevelopment of the 7-acre former Capital Iron industrial block, south of Rock Bay at the heart of an emerging Arts and Innovation District envisioned by the City in its Victoria 3.0 planning initiative. The waterfront and upland blocks will include buildings and spaces for marine and light industry, technology, commerce, recreation, residences, as well as arts and cultural uses, notably the community amenity contribution of a site for the new Downtown Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. Importantly it will reinstate long dormant marine access to the City's Upper Harbour, a Public Plaza and Concourse to the harbourfront. These new spaces are part of an urban network connecting the Harbour Pathway with Old Town, Chinatown and the upland city.
The temporary exhibit will occupy part of the future concourse, between the retained heritage buildings on Store Street for the three days of Design Victoria 2025. A free, ticketed exhibition opening reception will be hosted with music, bar, and a chance to learn more about this transformational project from the design team.
Opening Reception: Fri., May 2: 7-10pm
Exhibition: Sat., May 3, 10.30-4pm; Sun., May 4, 12-4pm
