CHINATOWN ARCHITECTURE

The Architecture Foundation of BC, Victoria Chinatown Museum Society, and Discover the Past present a guided architecture tour through Chinatown, covering historical moments, traditional typologies and discussing roles designers have in preserving Chinatown. The tour will wrap up with a drink and an opporunity to meet and chat with other participants.

On Sunday, the tour will finish at Ugly Duckling, where owner Corbin Mathany has created a signature cocktail designed to acknowledge and celebrate the buildings architecture and storied history in Victoria’s Chinatown.

Participants will have the opportunity to view ceramic artist Peter Flanagan’s work at the Ugly Duckling. Energetically large in scale the work offers a ceramic canvas on which he explores a multitude of surface treatments. Historic brick walls and the contemporary porcelain chargers create a textural feast for the eyes

*Some elements of the tour are not accessible due to some areas only being accesible through narrow stairways*
